“…they don’t call this baby the Smoothtalker for nothin’! It plays like friggin’ butta!”
I recommend Merv’s instruments whole heartedly, especially to adventurous, un-conventional muso’s who want to sound like nobody else.
The SmoothTalker is the most uniquely African invention ever
Not only is the SmoothTalker structurally and visually unique but it has a voice of its own. While they are highly non-traditional in almost every respect’ they offer visual appeal, playability and sound on a level I find inspiring.

When ruff and tuff alone just doesn’t quite cut it, these SmoothTalkers sure got a way with words!
Deep, dark, rich, African Tone from its unique, organic shape. Makes you wanna play.
My Smoothtalker is a constant source of interest and some amazement in my studio. I treasure both the sight and sound of the unique instrument you crafted, thank you.
She rings and sings with a clarity and accuracy that I have never met in a guitar before. She invites me to play her in ways I never imagined I was able to. She can be sweet and gentle, wild and raucous and doesn’t beat about the bush when making a statement that needs to be clear. She responds with intimacy to the gentlest touch. She shouts out her opinion with a truth and confidence that penetrates ones very soul. She is not shy to reveal herself in all her wonders and yet there is so much depth to her that it will take me years to get to know all her secrets. I love her neck with that flat back; so easy to play. The head really does make her look like an ancient instrument. She is truly beautiful. She is an ideal companion and partner in my musical life.
Bob that must be the most sensual and erotic thing I’ve seen, ever, that guitar…apart from my wife and Nicole Kidman (please don’t tell either one about the other). Congrats! I would very much like to hear it.
